J. Cole just recently sat down with Angie Martinez for an extended, 90-minute interview that took place before Cole’s performance in Miami, Florida at Rolling Loud. The interview covered a broad range of topics, but included some crucial tidbits of information that caught our attention.

The juiciest piece of news that we got from J. Cole is unfortunately pretty disappointing. The rumored and highly anticipated collaboration album with Kendrick Lamar, that Ab-Soul seemingly confirmed, in fact does not exist. Cole goes on to comment on how he thinks Ab-Soul got confused:

“[Ab-Soul] might be talking about when we originally got to work. This was years ago... we just did a few songs, a bunch of ideas, put it like that. You wouldn't call it an album, nothing like that." - J. Cole

Cole also stated how there aren’t any plans to bring it to fruition any time soon. Over the years, many members of TDE have teased the joint project between the hip-hop heavyweights. However the group of jokers, were doing just that - making jokes.

In the same interview, however, J. Cole did confirm that he is the mysterious kiLL Edwards that is featured on his album KOD (which was certified gold in under a month)He also confirmed that he is already working on a full-length studio album that will be released under that name. J. Cole went on to explain how he felt like he was being pigeonholed into talking about himself while rapping under the name J. Cole, and that kiLL Edwards would provide a fresh, new way for him to channel his creativity.

Stay tuned for more news regarding the kiLL Edwards project, and watch the full, extended interview with Angie Martinez below. Enjoy!
