Brasstracks has linked up with quickly rising vocalist Khalid for the latest from the #songsfromscratch series. The unexpected combination prove to be a natural fit on "Whirlwind".
The #songsfromscratch series brings artists together in the studio to make unlikely collaborations, which has delivered us amazing works from Mr. Carmack & Khelani, Chet Faker & Goldlink, Snakehips & Tory Lanez and more. This time around they’ve linked TSIS regulars Brasstracks with exciting El Paso-based vocalist Khalid. Although Khalid is just 18 years old, he’s already shown impressive songwriting abilities and continues to do so here. On "Whirlwind" we hear an infectious distorted vocal chop melody surrounded by raw hip-hop percussion, slick piano riffs and smooth trumpet melodies paired effortlessly with Khalid’s soothing vocals.
