Hex Cougar is an artist to keep an eye on with his tracks capturing the essence of both melodic euphoria and heavy impact. His recent remix of Kaskade and deadmau5’s “Move For Me” is a prime example. For his latest effort, Hex Cougar has remixed Dog Blood’s track “Shred Or Die,” which leans more toward the grimier side of things.
From the get-go, we can tell that Hex Cougar has drawn inspiration from Dog Blood in this remix, with a quirky, upbeat intro complete with laser samples and tribal drums. Instead of the metal guitar progression from the original, he drops the track with a huge, distorted bass that tears through subtle, white noise. He brings back the vibe from the intro while continuing with another dirty, percussive bass synth to tie it all together.
Here’s what Hex Cougar had to say about his remix: “dog blood is one of my favorite EDM supergroups of all time, and in honor of them reuniting soon i wanted to release this lil flip i did of one of their best songs.” Hex Cougar, the Dog Blood fan that he is, has undoubtedly seen their recent announcement that they are working on new material. Maybe they’ll drop Hex Cougar’s “Shred Or Die” remix at their Hard Summer set next month. Check it out for yourself below and enjoy!
